What is Return on Sweat?

By ROS

Return on Sweat is a play on the finance term "return on investment." It measures what your effort and consistency give back to you: Return on Sweat = Net Benefit ÷ (Time + Effort + Energy). The point is not only the result. The journey is the real return.

An example

An athlete trained about 1,460 days, more than 35,000 hours, for a handful of races that lasted less than two minutes in total. Measured only by those minutes, the return looks small. Measured by everything the athlete became, it was enormous.
