The race is the receipt. The process is the return.

The lesson
An athlete trained about 1,460 days, more than 35,000 hours, for a handful of races lasting less than two minutes in total. If those minutes were the only thing that counted, the return would look tiny. The real return was everything the athlete became while doing the work.
On the track
Results matter, but they are a snapshot of something much bigger. Value the sessions, the recovery and the lessons from bad days. They are not the price of the race. They are the return.
In life
A promotion, a grade or a launch is one moment. The skills, habits and character built getting there stay with you long after. Count those when you measure what your effort gave back.
